The 2014 Haunted Asylum will be Bigger & Better!
The Rockwood Asylum was closed in 1973 after the building fell into disrepair, but with no other mental health facilities in the area the owners had no where to send the patients that the facility housed. So, when the doors were locked the patients were left inside! Reports of activity on the abandoned property started to surface in 2005, but were ignored by authorities. Now the Asylum doors have been unlocked, and you can take a tour. The Asylum will be opening for its 3rd season in 2014, and will operate every Friday and Saturday in October including Halloween night. The Haunted Asylum at Camp Frame is a fundraising event for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Berkeley County. This event has helped to raised nearly $15,000 in its two years of operation, and we hope to reach nearly $30,000 this season. We hope to see you in October.
